Safety coordination for your build or renovation

Building or renovating with two or more contractors? Then you are legally required to appoint a safety coordinator (veiligheidscoördinator). Boengi has done this for large building sites since 1999. We now bring that experience to your home too.

What is it?

What does a safety coordinator do?

A safety coordinator makes sure the contractors on your site can work safely, even when they work one after the other or at the same time. The coordinator draws up a safety plan and follows up the site.

At the end, the coordinator compiles the post-intervention file (postinterventiedossier, PID). It describes how your home was built and where cables and pipes run. You need this file for later works and when you sell.

Appoint one in good time

The coordinator must already be involved during the design, together with the architect. So do not wait until the first contractor is at the door.

Legal basis: Royal Decree of 25 January 2001 on temporary or mobile construction sites. Simplified rules sometimes apply to smaller works by individuals. (to be confirmed)

Do I need this?

When is a safety coordinator mandatory?

You need one as soon as more than one contractor works on your site. A few examples:

  • A new build with separate contractors for the shell, roof and building services.
  • A renovation where a roofer and an electrician come one after the other.
  • An extension or veranda with a separate contractor for the foundations.
  • Demolition works followed by rebuilding by another company.

Not sure? Send us a short description of your works. We will tell you whether it is mandatory.

How it works

From design to handover.

  1. Design

Together with your architect, we draw up the health and safety plan before the works begin.

  2. Execution

During the works, we visit the site, keep the coordination logbook and speak to the contractors.

  3. Handover

You receive the post-intervention file. Keep it safe: the notary will ask for it if you sell later.

Frequently asked questions

Questions from clients.

As soon as two or more contractors work on your site, at the same time or one after the other. This also applies if you build or renovate as an individual. (to be confirmed)

A file with all useful information about your home: plans, materials used and where cables and pipes run. It helps with later works, and the notary asks for it when you sell.

That depends on the scope and duration of the works. You get a clear price upfront.

For some smaller works, that is allowed. For larger works, a separate coordinator is needed. We are happy to look at your situation. (to be confirmed)
